Cycling in Schweinfurt

A very well-developed cycle path network over 1000 kilometres long attracts thousands of tourists enjoying more active holidays to the Schweinfurt region of Franconia each year. On guided cycling tours you can follow the trail that Friedrich Rückert left around the town of his birth. Or you can plan your own individual cycling holiday with the tour planner and discover the idyllic countryside of the Schweinfurt region off your own bat.

Schweinfurt is the ideal starting point for cycling tours lasting several days, as various long-distance cycle routes intersect here. Around 600 varied kilometres of cycling await you on your cycling tour along the Main.

The River Main Cycle Path is one of the most beautiful and diverse cycle paths in Germany. The tour is remarkable for its family-friendly route guidance on smooth, mostly asphalt paths. On the way from Bamberg, it leads you past the city of Schweinfurt through the local countryside towards Aschaffenburg. On this journey, the city of Schweinfurt and the Schweinfurt region are an ideal stopping-off point on the stretch from Bamberg to Würzburg. Cyclists are very welcome at the many cycle-friendly establishments offering accommodation along the route and in town.  Other cycle paths, such as the Wern Cycle Path, the Main-Werra Cycle Path, the Main-Saale Cycle Path and the 2Franconias Cycle Path ensure variety.

During the summer months, e-bikes can be hired from the tourist information for a no-hassle way to discover the region. Designated charging stations guarantee long trips.
